This destination is also home to some of the best, most challenging and modern golf courses in all Latin America, which is why it has become one of the favorite destinations for golf lovers. This is the case of Tania Tare, Mel Reid and Amanda Balionis, who visited this destination a few months ago and fell in love with the attractions the area has to offer – both on and off the course.
These three professional golfers kicked off their trip at PGA Riviera Maya by Bahía Príncipe Golf Club, an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, which really captivated them for being surrounded by natural sceneries such as the lush jungle, lakes and cenotes.

TIP: There is nothing better for wrapping up your golf match than heading to Kay Beach Club. Located within the Bahia Principe resort, this restaurant offers exquisite dishes, good atmosphere and a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea.
Their next stop was Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club. This amazing golf course is a must among most golfers due to its extreme vertical movements and undulating greens. It has hosted top golf tournaments such as the 2016 Amateur World Championship, the Big Break Mexico tour, the Bupa Match Play (PGA tour Latin America), the Iberostar Riviera Maya Open (PGA TOUR Canada) and the Monday’s qualifiers for the PGA tour at the Mayakoba Golf Classic for eleven years.
Located at Mayakoba, a luxurious resort destination, El Camaleón Golf Course is a unique masterpiece, featuring crystal-clear lagoons, mangroves, lush jungle, the imposing Caribbean Sea and a cenote in the middle of the fairway of hole #7. Without a doubt, trick shot sensation Tania Tare´s favorite hole.
Designed by the renowned architect and PGA Tour legend Greg Norman, El Camaleón is home to the Jim McLean Golf School, the nation’s top golf school which offers highly personalized instruction programs, Trackman 3e and the latest technology in golf analysis computer software.
Amanda, Mel and Tania had the chance to plunge into the crystal clear waters of the Muyil lagoon, where they enjoyed the wonderful surroundings. At the Tankah park, they soared the sky on a zipline, took a quick dip in the mystical and refreshing waters of a cenote and got to see a Mayan community, where they learned about the customs and traditions of the locals.
Considered as a foodie destination, Riviera Maya features restaurants for all kind of budgets and interests, ranging from casual to fine dining at luxurious establishments and in eclectic settings such as inside of a cenote, in the middle of the jungle, and in the lush treetop canopy, among others.
The girls tried various international and regional dishes, such as pollo pibil (pibil chicken); which they learned how to cook it in the traditional way. They cook the chicken in the ground digging a fire pit and let the chicken roast.

Many of the finest restaurants in the Riviera Maya are run by prestigious chefs, which is the case of Rosewood Mayakoba´s restaurants, where the great Chef Juan Pablo Loza mixes traditional Mexican ingredients and techniques with different international styles; the same happens in Chablé Maroma, where its fresh and organic ingredients come mainly from its traditional Mayan gardens. One-of-a-kind dining experiences!
