Isla Mujeres is famous for its extraordinary places to dive, thanks to the crystal clear waters around the island it is possible to admire the marine fauna and the great diversity of corals that go from 3 to 5 meters high.

In the surroundings of the island there are several highly recommended places for diving, such as:

Manchones Reef

Is located about 10 minutes from Isla Mujeres and has a coral bank 12 km long and 700 meters wide. Here you find incredible landscapes of corals that are a paradise for underwater photographers; In addition, here is the Cruz de la Bahía, a bronze cross 3 meters high submerged 12 meters deep in 1994, as part of the celebration of the foundation of the island, (1850); and that he pays tribute to the men and women who died at sea. A place that you can not miss on your list for diving.

El Farito

A natural marine park located just 1.5 kilometers from Isla Mujeres, has a small lighthouse in the middle of a spectacular reef where you can snorkel and admire the marine fauna, as well as visit the statue of the Virgin of “El Farito” (Virgin of Carmen).

Bandera Reef

Is characterized by its elongated shape and is located between Cancun and Isla Mujeres; at a depth of 12 meters (40 ft.) you can find beautiful elkhorn reefs and large crabs, brunettes, lobsters, barracudas and angelfish.

The Cave of the Sleeping Sharks

In the decade of the 50's, Carlos García Castilla "Valve", an island diver, discovered a dark cave where sharks come to rest. It is located 30 minutes by boat from Isla Mujeres and is an excellent place to practice advanced diving and admire this extraordinary natural phenomenon.
