It’s time to enjoy a different holiday season in the Mexican Caribbean, welcome to Cancun! On this incredible spot we changed the snow for sand and the cold weather for sunny days and a lot of fun, but that doesn’t mean we don’t celebrate Christmas or New Year’s Eve, we celebrate them too but in a different way.

Holidays in Cancun

That’s why we want to share with you some options to spend holidays in Cancun in an amazing way. So pay attention and get ready to sing Merry Christmas with us on the beach!

Are you planning a Christmas dinner? You can visit the restaurants in the hotel zone or downtown. There are plenty options to enjoy during December in Cancun, from Italian to Caribbean food. Our recommendation is that you reserve your dinner in advance because there will always be a waiting list to celebrate Christmas or the New Year.

Do you want a parade? We have it too! Enjoy the Sunset Boat Parade. This is a parade of boats decorated with Christmas motifs that travel through the Siegfried Channel to the Nichupte Lagoon.  But that’s not all, also a small local market is installed in the pier next to the lagoon so that locals and visitors can do their Christmas shopping while enjoying the boat parade. At the end, the sky is lit with fireworks to celebrate another edition of the Sunset Boat Parade in Cancun.

How about the Christmas decoration? Although we are in the Caribbean, here we also like to decorate everything to celebrate Christmas. So if you visit some shopping centers you will find from Christmas trees to the unmistakable Santa Claus. For example, at Plaza Las Americas or La Isla Shopping Village huge Christmas trees are installed so that people can take photos and feel that festive spirit that we all get on these special dates.

But what would Christmas be without the traditional Christmas nativity scene? Every year, in our city hall an enormous Christmas crib is installed so that we can all celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th. So don’t miss the opportunity to visit it and take a photo to have a memory of your Christmas in the Mexican Caribbean.

Do you want to say hello to 2019 with a great party? Cancun’s nightlife will be the perfect option! From, nightclubs to theme parks, you will have great places to celebrate in an awesome way!

As you can see, we have the same customs and traditions to celebrate the holiday season in Cancun. Of course, some might seem strange to you, such as the fact that the Jesus child is the one who brings us the gifts and not Santa Claus, but each of them is part of celebrating Christmas in the Mexican Caribbean.

So we are waiting for you to celebrate holiday season together on the beach! What are your plans for this season? Let us know in the comments!
