The feeling you experience when you arrive at Isla Mujeres is a total inner peace incomparable magic. This island has a natural richness that combines the beauty of the Caribbean and the tropical jungle, which makes it look like heaven on Earth, with plenty of natural sceneries.
 

Garrafón Park

A natural park that owes its name to the coral reef that is located there, which has the shape of a gallon of water. Snorkel around the reef and admire the underwater beauty of the Mexican Caribbean.
 

Hacienda Mundaca

Built by Fermín Antonio Mundaca y Marecheaga, a 19th century pirate and slave trader that turned to the island for refuge after his run-ins with the British Navy in the 1860s. Fermín fell in love with an island girl known as “La Trigueña”. He built this hacienda hoping that would convince her to marry him. This hacienda  is located on the road to Garrafón, and is embellished with arches, a garden of exotic plants and flowers, passages, wells and a poultry farm. Nowadays, Hacienda Mundaca is part of the cultural inheritance of the island, its beauty and history makes it a great attraction for couples and newlyweds.
 

Punta Sur

Located in the southern tip of the island, reaching 20 meters above sea level. Punta Sur is a place where nature has carved the cliffs which offer breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, Cancun and the bay of Isla Mujeres. Here you will find the statue of the goddess Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of love and also the moon, fertility, and health.
 

Isla Contoy

A tiny unspoiled island, located 18 miles away from Isla Mujeres, where the waters of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico meet. With beautiful lagoons, lush jungle and idyllic beaches that look like heaven, this idyllic place is home to several flora and fauna species and has a 5-mile-long extension, 70% of it is covered by impressive mangroves. It is important to highlight that Contoy island is the most important bird sanctuary in the Mexican Caribbean, as more than 210 species have been registered here, including frigates, double-crested cormorants, herons, sea swallows, frigates, and brown pelicans. Other species that can be found on the island include crocodiles, sting rays and three different types of sea turtles –hawksbill, loggerhead and white– which are endangered species. In 1961, Contoy island was decreed a natural protected area and then a national park in 1998.
